Process of semi-continuous type pyrolysis machine

Semi-continuous Waste Oil Sludge Pyrolysis Machine

The Semi-continuous Waste Oil Sludge Pyrolysis Machine heats oil sludge at medium to high temperatures in an oxygen-free environment, causing the long-chain organic polymers in the sludge to undergo thermal decomposition into smaller molecules. The main process is as follows:

Raw material pretreatment

The material needs to be pretreated because it cannot have solid materials that can not be pyrolysed, such as Metal, bricks, stones, etc.

Feeding

It adopts the srew conveyor feeding and sealed feeding, which can save time and labor.

Pyrolysis

Use the heavy oil burner to heat the pyrolysis reactor

Cooling

The oil and gas enter the oil and gas purifier, and finally enter the cooling system, where they are liquefied into oil and stored in the oil tank.

Discharging slag

Using a screw conveyor, a cooling spiral, or a scraper conveyor for slag discharge can achieve high-temperature slag discharge; after the slag discharge is completed, there is no need to wait, and the material can be fed again.

Main Products of Semi-continuous Waste Oil Sludge Pyrolysis Machine

Pyrolysis Oil:  The oil sludge's ingredients are complex; there are different amounts of water, so the oil yield is from 20%-90%. If you want to check this, you can send us about 20-50kgs oil sludge to our factory, and we can test the oil yields for you. The pyrolysis oil has high calorific value, suitable as fuel oil for industrial boilers/kilns, or for further refining.

Solid Residue: Low carbon content, usable for brick making, road paving, etc., after passing testing.

Combustible Gas: For system self-use, reducing fuel consumption.

Environmental Benefits: Sludge reduction rate typically reaches over 90%, achieving "waste-to-treasure" transformation and complete pollution control.

oil Sludge which can be Pyrolysed

Semi-continuous waste oil sludge pyrolysis equipment is widely used for treating various types of oily waste in the petroleum and chemical industries:

1. Oilfield Exploration and Production
Treatment of drilling mud and oil-based drill cuttings
Treatment of oil sludge accumulated on the ground at oilfields
Production sludge generated during exploration and extraction

2. Refining and Petrochemicals

Advantages of the Semi-continuous Waste Oil Sludge Pyrolysis Machine

1. High Production Capacity
The semi-continuous design enables continuous feeding and high-temperature slag discharge, allowing for subsequent production cycles without the need for cooling downtime. Compared to batch-type equipment, daily processing capacity is significantly increased, typically achieving a rhythm of three batches every two days. The semi-continuous pyrolysis process supports 24-hour uninterrupted operation.
2. Excellent Environmental Performance
Sealed feeding and slag discharge technology: Ensures a clean, eco-friendly site with no odor leakage.
Comprehensive tail-gas treatment system: Can be equipped with exhaust purification and flue gas treatment units to meet local environmental emission standards.
Compliant solid residues: The mineral oil content in solid products after pyrolysis can be stably controlled to within 0.1% (1‰).
3. High-Level Automated Control
Equipped with a PLC automation control panel for real-time monitoring and adjustment of key parameters such as temperature, pressure, and material flow rate. Real-time monitoring and remote control functions ensure operational efficiency and safety.
4. Superior Energy Efficiency
Non-condensable combustible gases generated during pyrolysis can serve as auxiliary fuel to heat the reactor, reducing external energy consumption. Certain models feature heat recovery systems to effectively control operating costs.
5. Reliable Equipment Design
Stainless steel reactor: Corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant, extending equipment service life.
Mechanical coking removal/wall-scraping device: Prevents material coking and wall adhesion, ensuring pyrolysis efficiency.
Rotary reactor design: Ensures uniform heating of materials and improves product quality.
6. Flexible Processing Scale
Processing capacity can be customized to client needs, ranging from 5 to 30 tons per day, making it suitable for projects of various scales, from small to medium-large.

End products and applications

The three major categories of products obtained after pyrolysis treatment all have clear application value.

Product Application Areas
Fuel Oil Steel plants, glass factories, boiler heating, heavy-oil generators, cement plants, etc.
Carbon Black / Processed Soil Briquetted for combustion; after fine grinding, used in new tires, rubber soles, pigments, etc.; soil meeting standards can be used for backfilling.
Combustible Gas (Syngas) Recycled as fuel for reactor heating.

F&Q

1. What types of oily sludge can the semi-continuous waste oil sludge pyrolysis equipment process?
A: This equipment can process various types of oily waste, including but not limited to: oilfield oily sludge, tank bottom sludge, refinery sludge, oil-based drill cuttings, ground sludge, and petroleum-contaminated soil. It can also process other organic wastes such as waste tires, plastics, and rubber.

2. What are the differences between semi-continuous, batch, and fully continuous equipment?
A: Batch equipment requires a shutdown and cooling period between batches before reloading, resulting in lower production efficiency. Fully continuous equipment allows for uninterrupted operation but entails higher investment costs and greater technical complexity. Semi-continuous equipment falls in between; utilizing sealed feeding and high-temperature slag discharge technologies, it enables continuous production without the need for shutdown and cooling, offering a balance of efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

3. How many operators are required to run the equipment?
A: The semi-continuous equipment features a PLC automated control system, making it easy to operate. Typically, a single production line requires 3–4 operators for daily operations.

4. What level of oil content can be achieved in the solid product after processing?
A: After pyrolysis, the mineral oil content in the solid product can be stably controlled to within 0.3% (3‰), with levels as low as 0.05% (0.5‰) achievable. The petroleum hydrocarbon content in the residual slag can be as low as 0.253%, meeting strict environmental emission standards.

5. Does the equipment generate odors or pollution during operation?
A: The semi-continuous equipment employs sealed feeding and slag discharge technologies, with the pyrolysis process taking place in a closed system, ensuring a clean and odor-free production site. The equipment can be equipped with comprehensive tail-gas purification and flue-gas treatment systems to ensure emissions comply with local environmental standards.

6. What is the fuel consumption of the equipment? Are energy costs high?
A: The equipment is designed with energy efficiency in mind. Non-condensable combustible gases generated during pyrolysis can be recovered and used as fuel to heat the reactor, significantly reducing the need for external energy. Some models also feature heat recovery systems to further lower operating costs.

7. What is the processing capacity of the equipment?
A: Processing capacity can be customized according to customer requirements; common specifications range from 5 to 30 tons per day. The specific processing capacity depends on raw material characteristics, equipment configuration, and process parameters.

8. What pre-treatment is required for the raw material?
A: Oily sludge typically requires pre-treatment before feeding, such as removing large debris and adjusting the moisture content. For sludge with high moisture content, the equipment itself performs drying and dewatering during the pyrolysis process. The complete system can process oily sludge with a water content of up to 90%.

9. What is the service life of the equipment?
A: The main reactor is constructed from corrosion-resistant and high-temperature-resistant materials (such as stainless steel); combined with sound design and proper operation and maintenance, the equipment offers a long service life.
