Working Principle Of Grain Chain Bucket Elevator
The Chain Bucket Elevator is a heavy-duty vertical transport machine engineered to lift bulk granular, powdered, and small-lump materials continuously. Driven by a high-strength chain loop with attached steel buckets, this elevator reliably conveys materials such as cement, grains, sand, coal, fertilizer, crushed stone, and chemicals to heights of up to 60 meters. Its fully enclosed casing prevents spillage and dust pollution, making it an essential component in modern industrial processing lines, silo systems, and loading terminals.
Available in both ring-chain (TH series) and plate-chain (NE series) designs, our chain bucket elevators offer tailored solutions for abrasive, high-temperature, or moisture-laden materials. With capacities ranging from 15 to over 800 tons per hour, they deliver consistent performance in the toughest working environments.

Key Features
1. Easy maintenance, long service life, and strong structural rigidity;
2. The temperature of the conveyed material can reach 250℃, the operation of the lifting height is stable and reliable, the noise is low and the maintenance is convenient;
3. The middle section has two forms, single-channel and double-channel, and the lifting capacity of the improved model is more than 30% higher than that of the ordinary model;
4. The hoist chain is forged with alloy steel and treated by carburizing and quenching, which has extremely high tensile strength and wear resistance.

Note:
1. The bucket volume in the table is the calculated bucket volume, and the conveying volume is calculated according to the filling factor of 0.6.
2. TH type bucket elevator hopper application:
Zh--Medium deep bucket: conveying wet viscous materials, such as sugar, wet fine sand, etc.
Sh--deep bucket: conveying heavy powder and small block materials, such as cement, sand, coal, etc.

There are two types of hoppers (deep buckets) for the TH type ring chain bucket elevator series:
The ZH type (medium deep bucket) is generally used to transport wet, agglomerated, and difficult-to-throw materials, such as wet sand, molding sand, fertilizer, alkali powder, etc.
SH type (deep bucket) is generally used to transport dry, loose, and easy-to-throw materials, such as cement, gravel, coal, etc.
TH type Grain chain bucket elevator hopper application (shallow bucket)
Q--Shallow round bottom hopper: Convey wet materials, easy to agglomerate, and difficult to throw, such as wet sand, wet coal, etc.
S--deep round bottom hopper: conveying dry, loose, and easily thrown materials, such as cement, coal, crushed stone, etc.
Application Range
Our chain bucket elevators handle a vast range of bulk solids, including:
Construction: Cement, sand, gravel, crushed stone, dry mortar, gypsum powder
Agriculture: Grain (wheat, corn, rice), soybean, seeds, feed pellets
Mining & Minerals: Coal, iron ore, bauxite, copper concentrate, silica sand
Chemicals & Fertilizers: Urea, NPK, potash, soda ash, plastic granules, carbon black

For highly corrosive or sticky materials, we provide customized chain/bucket materials and special lining.

How It Works
Material Feeding – Bulk material is fed into the boot (bottom) section through an inlet chute.
Bucket Loading – Continuously moving buckets scoop up or are gravity-loaded with material inside the sealed boot.
Vertical Lifting – The chain drive, powered by a motor-reducer unit at the head, pulls the loaded buckets smoothly upward through the enclosed casing.
Discharging – At the head section, buckets pass over the drive sprocket. Centrifugal force or gravity discharges the material through the outlet chute.
Return Run – Empty buckets travel back down the return side of the casing to repeat the cycle.
The entire process runs inside a sealed environment. A tensioning device at the boot section maintains proper chain tension and prevents slippage.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between ring-chain and plate-chain elevators?
Ring-chain (TH series) is suitable for lighter, less abrasive materials with higher bucket speeds. Plate-chain (NE series) is designed for heavy, abrasive, high-temperature materials, offering a slower speed but greater durability and capacity.
Q2: How to prevent material backflow and blockages?
Our design features a curved discharge chute and optimized head section geometry to minimize backflow. Additionally, we can install a blockage detector and an inspection window for easy monitoring.
Q3: Can you handle sticky or moist materials?
Yes. We can equip the elevator with reinforced scraper buckets, enlarged discharge openings, and anti-stick liners (UHMWPE or Teflon) inside the casing and buckets.
Q4: What is the maximum temperature the elevator can withstand?
The standard design handles up to 120°C. With heat-resistant seals, special lubricating oil, and high-temperature alloy chains, we can convey materials up to 250°C. Please specify when inquiring.
Q5: What foundation is required for installation?
The elevator requires a solid concrete foundation with anchor bolts. We provide detailed foundation drawings and load data for your civil work.
